첫눈이 흰나비처럼 자유낙하 한다
 나뭇가지에서는 꽃이 피기 시작한다
 꽃들은 봉우리에서 접시로 금방 변한다

 어, 어... 꽝당!
 쓱 쓰~윽!
 끽 끼~익! 쾅!

The first snow falls freely like white butterflies

Flowers begin to bloom on the branches
The buds of flowers quickly change to plates

Oh, oh... Bam!

   A chestnut was thrown
   into the dark shadows. 

   Under the sunlight and moonlight
   Making a key out of the inner shells of the egg 
   When it gets out of the thorns
   It was abandoned.
   
   With countless thorns 
   imprisoning three great scholars
   there was the chestnut in the dark shadows

   설익은 가을 날
   밤송인 어둑어둑한 
   그늘로 내동댕이쳐졌다

   햇볕과 달빛을 받으며
   보늬로 열쇠를 만들어
   가시를 헤치고 나오려는
   순간, 밤들은 버려졌다
   
   무수히 많은 가시로 
   三政丞을 가두고 있는
   어두운 그늘 속 밤송이

   유리(琉璃)로 지어진 담
   사람들을 다수와 소수로 가르고 있네

   움직이는 구멍들이 있어서
   다수와 소수의 사람들이 소통하고 있네

   구멍들이 벼룩처럼 빨라서
   나는 그 구멍들에 맞출 수가 없네

   나는 소수 쪽에서 다수 쪽으로 가기 위해 
   통곡을 해 보았지만 이 소리조차 구멍들에 닿지 못 했네

 A wall made of glass
 Divides people into the majority and the minority

There are moving holes in the wall, 
That allows the divided peoples between the majority and the minority to communicate

 I can't fit into those holes
 because the holes are as fast as fleas

 To move from the minority to the majority 
 I tried wailing, but even the sound couldn't reach the holes.

연륜 속의 확고함과 여유로움

완벽함이 없이 어수룩하지만 자신감있는
그래서 정겹다

과거 내가 가지지 못한 모습에

He has the image that I want to have.
Both firmness and leisure in his years

Another he
has the image of my past and future.
He is not perfect, but confident, so I like him.

Another
makes me reflect on the my image that I did not have in my past

She
has passion and responsibility for work so
I cannot dislike her even if she did make mistakes.

Another she
has perfect sense, sincerity, and accuracy
Which gives me the joy of working together with her.

I see myself from my colleagues up, down, left, and right at work, 
and I see my past mistakes

Learning how to work together and
getting used to each others, which
is becoming one team with trust

Even if nothing remains later
This moment is tearfully happy.

달력을 의식 할 수 없었을 때는
사람들이 무시해도 ‘장애인이니까……’
당연한 줄 알고 음습(陰濕)한 곳에 숨었다

진흙을 묻히고 나왔을 때는
안개 속에서 사람들이 같은 땅을 밟고
같은 하늘 밑에 살고 있다는 것을 깨달았다

낙조가 왜 슬픈지를 알았을 때는
나도 사람들과 함께 살아가기 위해
몸부림 쳐 보지만……?

When I was not aware of the calendar and others ignored me, 
I found the reason that I'm disabled and hid in a damp place, thinking it was deserved.

However, when I came out, covered in mud,
I realized that people walk and live in the fog
on the same land and under the same sky.

Since I recognized that sunsets are sad
I struggle and squirm to live with people.

강이 고요하다
조용한 강가에
소리없이도 흘러내리는 물
여간해선 빠르게 움직이는 물살이
물밖에선 느껴지지 않는다
 
잔잔한 물위에 던져진 작은돌
물위에 튕겨나가며 잔물결만 이르키네
 
돌을 아무리 던져도
멈추지 않고 흐르는 물
 
강가에 흐르는 물소리에
웃음이 있다
 

A river is calm.
On the calm river,
the water flows quietly.
We can ’t notice outside the river 
where the water moves so fast

A small stone thrown on the calm water
It bounces out of the surface of the water.
It only creates small ripples.
 
No matter how many stones are thrown on the calm river
the water on the river flows without stopping
 
There are laughters
with the sound of water flowing by the river

   하얗디하얀 나비가 구름 속으로
   안기듯 날아가고 있다

   급기야, 먹구름에서는
   물방울이 떨어지기 시작했고
   굵어지고 세차질 것이다
  
   나비는 솜처럼 젖어가도
   체액까지 줄 듯 먹구름을 향해 
   안간힘으로 날아가고 있다

아무것도 모르겠다
어느 것도 보이지 않는다

실 같은 빛이
10여 미터 앞에서 보인다

그 틈으로
보석처럼 글자들이 들어왔다

나는 글자들을 흡수했고
글자들도 나를 녹여냈다

글자들을 흡수한 나는
글자들로 존재증명을 하고 있다

Dear my two daugthers

Today is April 4 2024. Mom is reading old poems that I wrote in Korean for you Jina. When mom was young, but still older than you, life was not easy and full of contradiction to me. As you know, mom and dad still have sometimes troubles, but still get along with each other. We all are different, and could have different thoughts and habits. Surely, turning years has given strenth to mom, and mom is more tolerant to any matter now. I hope that Grace might see them as well. The order of poem will be same with that in the original book. The original poems have no titles but, mom will title them. I hope that two of you would love poems. I do not mean mom’s poems, just poems. Mom thinks that poem is a like of life song. -SY

삶을 고민하고 
삶을 논하고
삶을 살아갈 때
들쳐 볼 수 있는 글이 되었으면 합니다.

우주로 향한

삶이란 숙제는 수수께끼 푸는 과정입니다.
하나를 풀면, 또 하나를 풀어야 하는
우리는 문제를 통해 성장합니다.
어려움을 만나더라도 웃어요.
어려움은 지나가요.

Life is a process of solving riddles.
If you solve one, you have to solve another one.
We grow through problems and troubles.

남자와 여자
같은 듯 하지만 다릅니다.

삶은 겉과 속을 구분하기 힘든
뫼비우스의 띠와도 같은 것
겉과 속이 하나인 띠
자신의 마음도 때론
구분하기 힘들어요
너무 심각해 지지 말아요
단순해 져요.

Life is difficult to distinguish between the in and the out.

A belt that is one inside and outside
Even your own mind is sometimes
hard to tell
Don't be too serious
Be simple.

힘든 일을 통과하면
기쁨이 있어요.
그런데, 조심하세요.
너무 좋은 일이 있을 때는 
나쁜 일도 같이 올 수 있어요.

세상에 얼마가 있다는 것

Don't just pursue what's good that people say

테두리를 벗어나봐요

자기 자신이어요
자기 삶을 놓쳐서는 안 되요

이것 저것 모두 허용해 봐요

어…저기..저 시커먼 곳은 어딜까
악..소름 끼쳐  
온통 어둠 뿐이네
아..저기 저기 성이 보여
아둠 속에 성이 있어
저 새는 무얼까
저 새들은 왜 저렇게

눈을 뜨자 그 성은 없어져 버렸네.
손을 대자 그 성은 흩어져 버렸어.

난
그 성을 찾아
헤맸네
하지만 찾을 수 없었어
이 곳엔 
어둠이라고는 눈곱만큼도 없었거든

난 그 어둠이 궁금했어
너무도 궁금했지
내가 모르는 그 곳이 
너무도 궁금해서
견딜 수 없었어

난 그곳이 어디있는지
그 곳이 어디 있는지
찾아 헤맸지

하지만 
난 눈을 떴고
이제야
난 알게 되었네

내가 그 곳에 
내 한 다리를 
디디고 서 있음을

find that castle

I was curious about that darkness

That place I don't know

I couldn't bear it

I don't know where it is
Where is that place
I searched for it

but 
I opened my eyes
Now
I found out

I’m standing
my one leg on the darkness
