메주, 차강석 | Meju, Mr. Cha, Kang Seok

Meju is a brick of dried fermented soybeans. It is used for soybean paste (Doenjang) and soy sauce (Ganjang)

   여기저기 갈라진 메주
   틈과 주위에는 곰팡이가 핀 메주
   죽은 나뭇가지 같이 말라빠진 메주
   
   메주처럼 못 생긴 차강석
   얼굴은 아주 토속적으로 생겼고
   얼굴 아래는 사지마비에 언어 장애

   메주를 쪼개서 곰팡이를 씻어내고
   항아리에 물과 소금 그리고 숯과 고추 등을 넣고
   햇빛과 공기 그리고 가장 중요한 정성을 섞어 된장을 만든다

   차강석은 사지마비에 언어 장애로
   실오라기 하나조차 옮길 힘이 없지만 
   왼발로 글을 써서 마음을 표현하여 사회와 활발히 소통한다

A Meju cracked here and there

A Meju moldy around the cracks,
A Meju dried up like dead tree branches

Cha, Kang-seok, ugly as the Meju
His face looks traditional
Below his face, he is paralyzed with speech impediment

the Meju bricks are split and washed off to remove molds.
water, salt, charcoal, and pepper are added and mixed. 
sunlight, air, and most importantly, sincerity make Doenjang good.

Cha, Kang-Seok paralyzed with speech impediment, does not have any strength to move even a single thread.
But he actively communicates with society by writing with his left foot to express him.

    향기의 여행

   살포시 다가온 봄
   라일락은 꽃을 피우고
   향기를 풍매화처럼 흩뿌린다

   향기는 신기루 같은 바람을 타고
   정주행이 목적인 시간을 역주행하여
   삼라만상(森羅萬象)을 카오스 상태로 만든다

   다시 향기는 시간의 정주행을 만들고
   향기는 시간의 정주행을 타고 역사를 쓰며
   활화산처럼 활기차고 열정 넘치는 젊은 나를 본다

A journey of fragrance

Spring that comes gently,
makes Lilacs bloom and scatter their fragrance 
like wind-blown flowers

The Lilacs' fragrance rides the mirage-like wind
and reverses the time that is meant to flow to the future 
and turns all things in the universe into chaotic state

The fragrance move a regular journey of time at this time
and rides the journey of time in the future direction, and writes history.
I see my young self, 
full of energy and passion, 
like an active volcano.

존재 | Existence

길을 걷는다
문득 발  아래 개미를 인식한다
 
내가
존재하고
내가
일 하는 방식이
나도 모르는 사이
죽어나가는 개미를
만들어 낸다면
 
나도 열심히
거인들의 발아래에서
죽지 않기 위해
피해다니는 형국이라면
 
때론
이것이 사는 것이라면
 
내 발아래 개미를 깨닫는 순간도
내 위 거인의 발바닥을 느끼는 순간도
그닥 유쾌한 경험은 아니다

Walking down the street
Suddenly I realize the ants under my feet

If my existence and the way I work
creates ants that die without me knowing

If I also work hard
to avoid dying under the feet of giants

If sometimes this is living

The moment I realize the ants under my feet and also 
the moment I feel the soles of the giants' feet above me
are not very pleasant experiences

민들레와 이별

바람이 쌀랑쌀랑 부는 봄 
민들레는 공기가 가득 찬
풍선처럼 공중부양을 한다

하늘로 떠오른 민들레는
산불을 진화하는 헬기같이
홀씨들을 벚꽃처럼 흩뿌린다

홀씨들을 세상으로 떠나보낸 민들레는
아기를 막 낳은 임산부의 마음이 되었다

Parting with Dandelion

Spring, when the wind blows gently,
floats dandelion into the air, 
like a balloon full of air

Dandelion that has risen to the sky
like a helicopter that puts out a forest fire,
scatters its seeds like falling cherry blossom pedals

The dandlion that has sent seeds out in the world, 
has the heart of a pregnant woman who has just given birth

출근을 위해서
새벽  4:30 분 혹은 5:30분 집을 나선다
 
지난
겨우내 눈이 많이 왔다
눈이 올때 마다 1시간씩 더 일찍 읽어났다
 
눈을 치웠다
마당 집 앞까지 길을 냈다
나는 나서지만
들어오셔야 하는
딸아이의 아침선생님을 위함이기도 했다
이층 분들을 위함이기도 했다
 
눈을 치우며
생각했다
 
대표님을
 
회사도 주인의식을 가진 사람들이
배려를 하며 이끄는 것이라고
 
주인의식을 가지고 눈은 치우고 길을 냈지만
난 집주인은 아니다 그저 잠시 머문 식구
 
주인의식도 전파되는듯하다

Ownership

To go to work
I leave the house 
at 4:30 or 5:30 am in the morning.

Through the winter
It snowed a lot
I woke up an hour earlier 
every time it snowed

I cleared the snow
I made a path through the yard to the front of the house
I went out, but
it was for my daughter's morning teacher who had to come in
and for the people on the units of the second floor

While clearing the snow
I thought about

Our CEO and

that the company should be led by peoples with a sense of ownership and thoughtful caring

I cleared the snow and made a path with a sense of ownership
but I'm not the owner of the house.

I'm just a member who stayed for a while
It seems like the sense of ownership is spreading with the leadership

   봄비

   봄비가 부슬부슬 내리고
   꽃잎들은 바닥도 모르도록 떨어진다

   봄이 살며시 다가와서
   사람들과 꽃잎들 또 온갖 생물들이 활기를 띈다

   사랑하는 것들은 너무 빨리 이별을 고하듯
   광대 얼굴처럼 어여쁜 봄도 의식도 할 수 없이 가 버린다

Spring Rain

Spring rain is falling gently
Flower petals scatter without even noticing the ground

Spring comes gently and
All creatures including people and flowers liven up.

As if things we love leave too soon
The beautiful spring, like a clown's face, goes away without us even realizing it
